Many of us take our health for granted. When you’re young and in your twenties leading a busy life, being confronted with a medical emergency is the last thing on your mind.
Grantly Creasey, a 28-year-old from Esperance was fit and healthy, had an enjoyable social life and a job which he enjoyed as a heavy diesel mechanic.
As a volunteer firefighter, Grantly had been recognised for his achievements within the community and had been nominated for a Community Citizen of the Year Award from the Shire of Esperance.
When he had an accident at work and his health deteriorated overnight, it was a shock.
“To say the accident left me in excruciating pain is an understatement. I damaged my back and couldn’t walk. A referral from my doctor to visit a neurosurgeon confirmed that I needed urgent treatment.”
“As a volunteer firefighter, I was unable to turn out to emergency incidents and to continue my work helping the community. I was in constant pain, but my health became my highest priority. It was so bad I couldn’t sleep.”
“My ultimate goal was to get back to my normal self, but there was a lengthy waiting list on the Government Medicare system. I had very little savings and couldn’t fund an operation privately.”
Organising a loan for surgery
That’s where TV Financial Services stepped into help. Grantly had used Tam when he needed a home loan two years previously.
“At the age of 14, I followed some great advice. I purchased a block of land which then doubled in value. When I turned 26, I used that equity to get a home loan to build my home in Esperance.”
“My home loan wasn’t straightforward due to an error in my name on the title deeds for that initial block of land many years ago, but Tam worked tirelessly to help me sort it out.”
It was because of Tam’s positive attitude and her commitment, that Grantly knew he could trust her to find an urgent loan for his medical operation.
Grantly was in Perth when he found out he required surgery, so the loan was organised over the phone.
Brooke Harper, Planning and Finance Client Administrator at TV Financial Services, ensured that the necessary paperwork for the loan application was in order, Grantly had to submit payslips and obtain a valuation on his house. Within 24 hours the loan with Latitude Finance was approved.
“Once I knew the loan had been approved and I had the money to fund the operation, I saw my neurosurgeon. My consultation was on the Thursday and my operation was booked for the Tuesday.”
He’s now recuperating and receiving physiotherapy and hopes to be back at work in a month. Tam and the team at TV Financial Services have now consolidated his loan into his mortgage with Commonwealth Bank to make his repayments cheaper and more streamlined.
“Throughout the whole process, Tam texted me checking in to see how I was doing. Without that loan I would still be bed-bound in severe pain. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Tam and her team to others. It sounds very dramatic, but TV Financial Services gave me my life back.”
Grantly has nothing but praise for the service he received.
